Parker introduces extreme-pressure hose

May 13, 2019 By Ken Korane Leave a Comment

At this year’s Hannover Fair in Germany, Parker Hannifin announced that it has extended its hose product range with the introduction of R50TC/R56TC ParLock multispiral hoses.

Parker Hannifin’s R50TC/R56TC ParLock spiral hoses have pressure ratings to 8,122 psi (560 bar).

The hoses, available with four or six spiral steel-wire reinforcement, are suited for demanding dynamic applications with pressure ratings up to 56.0 MPa (8,122 psi). High-pressure performance, flexibility and long service life are the key attributes of the new hoses and fittings, according to the company.

ParLock is the high performance skive system developed for safety critical and very heavy-duty applications, and for  operations where customers are requesting the implementation of multispiral hose assemblies with external/internal skive type fittings.

As the trend for high application pressures grows, the goal of Parker Hannifin’s R50TC/R56TC development was to concentrate on extremely high pressure for strong dynamic applications at working pressure exceeding 8,000 psi, and to provide a marked performance increase in applications such as hydrostatic drives and general high-pressure hydraulic lines.

In addition to the high internal strain exerted on such hose assemblies, they are also frequently subjected to high external mechanical forces caused through their suspended installation and movement in normal use. These forces act upon the hose fittings and the hose/fitting transition zone. To prevent the fittings from tearing off, it is essential to use high-strength, high-quality components with proven compatibility.

Parker’s R50TC/R56TC hoses are constructed with the Parker Tough Cover (TC) to mitigate this problem. Hose types with TC offer a high hose-to-hose as well as hose-to-object abrasion resistance.

The hose product line exceeds ISO 3862 Type R15 specifications. They are available in sizes from ‒6 to ‒20 (hose ID from 0.25 to 1.25 in. or 9.5 to 31.8 mm) with working temperature range from -40° to 100° C (-40° to 212° F).

ParLock R50TC/R56TC products are designed to handle tight bend radii. In addition, they are tested to one-million cycles at 120% working pressure. The range has also been approved with 8,000 psi flanges in straight, 45° and 90° configurations.
