Holmbury grows with expanded lab and office space

July 10, 2024 By Mary Gannon Leave a Comment

Holmbury Inc. recently hosted an open house, to highlight the growth the company has made in the past several years at its U.S. headquarters in Eastlake, Ohio.

The manufacturer of flat face couplings has nearly doubled its space, expanding with two extra suites to the south and north of its original space. In the southern suite, Holmbury added a new lab for testing. Although quick couplings seem like a simple commodity, they’re more complicated because there is a valve inside, said Matt Mulder, President.

Holmbury's expanded space includes a modernized lab, featuring a hydraulic test stand, shadowgraph for collecting various dimensional data, and a burst pressure stand.

“We’ve made an investment over time into equipment to support our needs,” Mulder said. “We’ve got a hydraulic test stand, shadowgraph for collecting various dimensional data, and a burst pressure stand that we use to test burst pressure, flow rates, and pressure drop.”

The previous lab was just a small corner in the warehouse, so this allows Holmbury to provide more testing services. “When you bring a customer in to collaborate, this is much more presentable,” Mulder said.

The entire space features more natural lighting as well as modern LED lights throughout. A new conference room allows for collaboration and training with key customers. The new conference room doubles as a technology center, where most of their key products are on display, Mulder said.

“It’s designed not only for our internal staff meetings but also customer visits. Customer training is huge for us especially with distribution,” Mulder said. “Most people see our product as a simple fitting but it’s much more advanced than that.”

The old conference room was converted into a more modern and comfortable employee lunch space. The kitchen was doubled in size and completely updated. A massage chair and game console were added to give employees downtime. “It’s all about employee retention,” Mulder said. “We try to treat our employees well in terms of how they’re compensated and incentivized. We’re creating that environment where, yes, work is work, but you can come and relax and take a break, too.”
