Eaton’s high performance hose provides extreme durability

May 23, 2017 By Paul Heney Leave a Comment

Eaton hydraulic hoseEaton has expanded its hydraulic hose portfolio with the release of Eaton GH681 hose series, a new high performing one-wire braided hose qualified to 1 Million impulse cycles. This high-performance hose provides customers with industry-leading durability in harsh environments.

Standard EN857 Type 1SC hoses are qualified up to 200,000 impulse cycles. The Eaton GH681 exceeds this standard by 5 times and is designed to withstand the toughest applications. This durability helps decrease maintenance costs, improves safety and minimizes downtime.

The GH861 hose is used as part of a hydraulic system, working under pressure to transfer oil to the cylinders in mobile machinery like tractors, lifters, sweepers and agricultural equipment. It is also used for industrial applications such as presses to connect moving parts.

“Hydraulic system failures are serious business and can cost a lot. Hydraulic systems impulse cycles are key factors in a system effectivity, and a key measure in the life expectancy and overall quality of a hydraulic hose. Abrasion in the moving parts is the leading cause of hydraulic hose failures, so this is an area where Eaton focused on when developing the new GH681 hose“, said Dimitar Atanasov, product manager, Fluid conveyance products EMEA.

Eaton GH681 addresses this issue with a Dura-Tuff cover that provides up to eight times more abrasion resistance than an average standard synthetic hose cover. This enhanced abrasion resistance maximizes machine performance in the most demanding environments.

While most hoses in the industry offer an operating temperature of 100° Celsius, the Eaton GH681 was designed with higher pressure ratings and an operating temperature up to126° Celsius (260° F). Most hoses qualify for only a narrow range of pressure, and different hoses are needed for even smaller-difference pressure applications, Eaton have enhanced this feature to enable customers to use this one-wire braided hose for a wider range of applications.

Increased operating temperature also allows for use in a broader range of hydraulic systems and offers additional protection against heat in demanding applications to extend service life.

Used with Eaton’s one-piece, non-skive TTC (Through the Cover) fitting, this hose delivers a class 0 leakage performance.
