ContiTech opens new hydraulics plant in Mexico

November 4, 2025 By Puja Mitra Leave a Comment

Continental’s ContiTech group sector opened a new hydraulics production facility in Aguascalientes, Mexico. The plant supports ContiTech’s efforts to strengthen local supply chains, expand its manufacturing presence in the Americas, and advance its “in the region, for the region” strategy.

The grand opening event was attended by officials from the state of Aguascalientes, led by Governor Maria Teresa Jiménez Esquivel, alongside head of ContiTech group sector Philip Nelles, CFO Matthias Reinsberg, ContiTech USA CEO and head of business area industrial solutions Americas Andreas Gerstenberger, and employees. Members (customers) from the ContiTech Distributor Advisory Council were also in attendance to help celebrate the occasion. Their attendance reflected the significance of the new facility for the region’s economic development.

The 900,000 square feet Aguascalientes production site will work in alignment with ContiTech’s existing manufacturing facility in Norfolk, Nebraska, offering production flexibility, increased responsiveness and operational efficiency.

“The opening of this new plant marks a significant milestone in ContiTech’s ongoing commitment to serving customers across the Americas,” said Andreas Gerstenberger, CEO of ContiTech USA and Head of Business Area Industrial Solutions Americas. “We’re investing not only in technology and capacity, but also in people and in opportunities for mutual value creation with customers and partners.”

“With a highly skilled local workforce and a strong spirit of innovation, the Aguascalientes location gives us the foundation to deliver even greater value to our customers. This facility enables us to optimize lead times, reduce logistics dependencies and allow us to respond to customer needs faster and more flexibly.”

The ribbon-cutting ceremony at ContiTech’s Aguascalientes plant marked the official grand opening of the facility. The event was led by Aguascalientes Governor María Teresa Jiménez Esquivel, alongside Philip Nelles, head of ContiTech group sector; CFO Matthias Reinsberg; and Andreas Gerstenberger, head of business area industrial solutions Americas.

The 900,000-square-foot facility will produce hydraulic hoses for industrial and mobile applications, including construction, agriculture, mining and energy. Built with modern manufacturing technologies and a focus on efficient operations, the plant will supply locally engineered products to meet regional demand.

The new facility will work in coordination with ContiTech’s existing manufacturing site in Norfolk, Nebraska, to improve production flexibility and efficiency. Together, these locations will help ContiTech meet customer requirements by optimizing volume, technology use and lead times within a single regional network.

“The Aguascalientes plant represents the next level of operational capability for ContiTech,” said Tomas Kostenec, head of operations, at ContiTech Industrial Solutions Americas. “From the layout and automation systems to workforce training and process optimization, every aspect reflects our dedication to excellence and continuous improvement. This facility enhances our operational agility and ensures that we can meet customer expectations with precision and dependability.”

Eduardo Barros, head of plant management at the Aguascalientes facility, highlighted the pride and commitment of the local team: “This project has been built by an exceptional group of people who share a common vision to deliver world-class products made in our region. Our team’s expertise and passion are the driving forces behind this achievement, and we’re ready to make Aguascalientes a benchmark for innovation and performance within ContiTech’s global network.”
